Not only Odysseus, but the Sumerian hero Gilgamesh, the Greek Heroes Theseus and Heracles, and many others have made the journey to the land of the Dead. In Odysseus' journey to this land, he seeks his destiny in the means to bring Teiresias up from the dead.
